(LifeSiteNews) — A report from the Vatican’s General Secretariat of the Synod published Tuesday suggests a reframing of homosexuality, endorsing testimony without qualification that “sin, at its root, does not consist in the (same-sex) couple relationship” but in “a lack of faith in a God who desires our fulfilment.”

The Vatican-commissioned Study Group 9 of the Synod on Synodality published its Final Report May 5, “Theological criteria and synodal methodologies for shared discernment of emerging doctrinal, pastoral, and ethical issues.” Under the heading, “Taking a synodal approach to discernment: A proposal for implementation in local Churches,” the 32-page document relies on the testimonies of the “lived experience” of two individuals with same-sex attraction to “aid the promotion of pastoral discernment.”

Framing the two testimonies as “experiences of goodness” which constitute “successive stages of development in the individuals involved,” the document notes the protagonist of the first testimony’s purported “discovery that sin, at its root, does not consist in the (same-sex) couple relationship” following alleged “devastating effects of reparative therapies aimed at recovering heterosexuality.”

The document takes specific aim at Courage, a Catholic group established for the support of those with same-sex attraction who wish to live chastely and in accord with Church teaching. Citing a testimony describing “problematic membership” in the group, the report characterizes Courage’s approach as “reparative therapy” and condemns it for having “the effect of separating faith and sexuality.”

Later in the text, Study Group 9 presents marriage as an open question regarding same-sex “relationships” and states that solutions to these questions “cannot be anticipated with pre-established formulas.” Under the title “Possible pathways and questions for synodal discernment,” the group suggests that, “while listening to the Word of God lived in the Church,” it is “necessary to address with parrhesia the currently recurring question of whether one can speak of ‘marriage’ in relation to persons with same-sex attractions.”

Leaving the question open, the document asks whether homosexual “relationships” can be thought of as equal “to heterosexual conjugal union,” despite “the evident impossibility of procreation.”

“Consequently, we must ask how the Christian community is called to interpret and address questions relating to the educational commitments toward children within family, ecclesial, and social life, in relation to the de facto unions between believers of the same sex,” the document states.

Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod, said the report “offers concrete tools for addressing the most difficult questions without fleeing from complexity: listening to those concerned, reading reality, and bringing together different forms of knowledge.”

“It is the synodal method applied to the most demanding situations,” Grech stated.

Regardless of the report, the Catholic Church teaches that homosexual activity is mortally sinful and that homosexual inclinations are “objectively disordered.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’”

Israeli Army Damages Catholic Monastery And A School In Southern Lebanon!!

 The radical, Zionist, atheistic monsters of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) continue to wipe out homes, Christian (and that means Catholic!) churches, schools and physically attacking innocent Christian bystanders, including nuns and others wearing crosses or other Christian symbols.

"(LifeSiteNews) — The Israeli military struck and heavily damaged a convent belonging to the Greek Catholic Basilian Salvatorian Sisters in the southern Lebanese town of Yaroun, drawing sharp criticism from Christian organizations worldwide.

The facility, which supported local schools, had been evacuated earlier in the conflict, with its two resident religious sisters safely relocated.

The French Catholic charity L’Œuvre d’Orient, which is associated with the apostolate, denounced the bulldozer demolition as a “deliberate act,” arguing it forms part of a broader Israeli campaign of systematic destruction aimed at discouraging displaced residents from returning home.

Father Charbel Naddaf, priest of the Yaroun parish, confirmed Friday that Israel carried out the demolition of the convent and its associated school. He denounced this deliberate destruction as “a flagrant violation of international law,” according to L’Orient Today.

The Melkite Greek Catholic priest continued to explain that despite any of Israel’s statements with regard to this incident, its objective is to “empty the area of its inhabitants and prevent their return,” something the Israeli army continues to accomplish “in the absence of any deterrent.”

“They destroy houses and places of worship, and no one stops them,” the priest explained, demanding Lebanese authorities and the international community intervene.

Responding to the demolition was former congressional representative Margorie Taylor Greene, who implored in a Friday tweet posting the report, “American Christians speak out!!! America can’t be silent and must stop funding Israel to do such atrocities!!!”

“The Israeli army razed the convent and the Sisters of the Holy Savior school in Yaroun, Lebanon, yesterday. By what right? What does this have to do with disarming Hezbollah?” European Parliament member Nathalie Loiseau challenged.

After similar deliberate destructions of Catholic Church property by the Israeli army in Lebanon in 2024, including the filmed destruction of a previous monastery and a statue of St. George, Melkite Greek Catholic Archbishop Ibrahim Mikail Ibrahim, metropolitan of Zahle and the Bekaa in Lebanon, condemned in a statement the “crime of destruction,” saying that “what happened is not a mere passing aggression, but a blatant and unacceptable violation of all human values and international law, as well as a direct attack on the educational and spiritual mission of the Church.”

The archbishop affirmed that “the destruction of this religious and educational place constitutes an aggravated crime against humanity and the land, and respects neither the sanctity of holy places nor that of scientific institutions.” He emphasized that the targeting of a monastery and a school equivalent to attacking “childhood, knowledge, and the hope for a better future.”

Israeli anti-Christian attacks escalating

LifeSiteNews has documented what appears to be a disturbing escalation in attacks by Israeli soldiers and settlers against Christians, their clergy, and religious property across the Holy Land and Lebanon.

On April 19, a photograph surfaced on X and other social media outlets showing an Israeli soldier smashing the head of the statue of Jesus Christ with a sledgehammer. The image quickly went viral and sparked global outrage among Christians, including the Catholic bishops of the Holy Land, which issued an “unreserved condemnation” of the desecration. Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa stated that the act “constitutes a grave affront to the Christian faith and adds to other reported incidents of desecration of Christian symbols by IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon.”

In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Jewish terrorists from illegal Israeli settlements have repeatedly terrorized the predominantly Christian town of Taybeh as well as other Palestinian communities. As has become a regular occurrence, masked settlers last July “stormed this Christian village … setting vehicles on fire, hurling rocks at homes, and spraying hateful graffiti on the walls.”

The Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem described the armed intruders as being on horseback, spreading terror and torching holy sites while also destroying farmland.

Last month, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem also called Jewish settler destruction of their Church-owned lands and trees using an excavator “a ‘red line.’”

In Jerusalem, physical assaults and harassment have surged. Last week, video captured a “brutal assault on (a) Catholic nun” who was slammed to the ground and kicked by a Jewish settler terrorist named Yonah Schreiber near King David’s tomb.

Other reports document the common occurrence of Christian clergy and religious being spat on and harassed by Jewish terrorists in Jerusalem.

Such incidents have highlighted the persistent and even deadly aggressions from radical Jewish sects over land and security in the West Bank and Jerusalem, where Church properties have faced repeated pressures with Christians consistently warning their western co-religionists that radical Zionist movements, most often with government sanction, are seeking to drive them out of the Holy Land.

‘Israel is at war with the Catholic Church’

A Catholic priest who is a longtime resident in the city told LifeSiteNews in April that pressures against Christians have become increasingly more aggressive, frequent and violent over the last 10 to 15 years. Citing sources, he explained how the Israeli policy reflects an intentional effort “to limit church apostolic activity as much as possible without raising international alarm bells.”

In a recent monologue covering anti-Christian attacks, Tucker Carlson encouraged viewers to call Republican House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson and ask him, “Why in the world would you ever appropriate money to a government that is murdering Christians?”

For her part, Catholic journalist Christine Niles tweeted a question, asking, “Why are @realDonaldTrump and @VP allowing Israel to do this to Christians?”

And Catholic pro-life humanitarian leader Jason Jones simply observed that “Israel is at war with the Catholic Church.”

(LifeSiteNews) — Eva Edl, a 90-year-old woman who was convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act during the Biden administration, and who previously survived a Soviet death camp in Yugoslavia, called for the repeal of this law during a U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing this week.

During Edl’s April 28 testimony at the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing “From Tool to Weapon: The FACE Act and the Dangers of Federalizing Criminal Law,” Edl compared abortion centers to the Soviet death camps, emphasizing that she had wished people would have put their bodies on the tracks to stop the cattle car as she and other pro-life activists charged under the FACE Act have done at abortuaries. During the Biden administration, dozens of pro-life activists were prosecuted under the FACE Act.

“In 1988, I became aware of the existence of abortion clinics, which I view as our American death camps. On TV, I watched women take their babies inside to be killed, and it reminded me of my ride in the cattle car that took me as a young girl to the death camp,” Edl told the committee.

“While being locked up in that car, I wished that some people would have put their bodies on those tracks to bring that train to a stop and set us free,” she added. “I thought of the word of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 7 that I should ‘do unto others as I would have them do unto me.’ So I knew I had to place my body between those victims and the abortionists, no matter what the cost.”

“When we are at clinics like that, it’s like sitting in front of the train tracks,” she said. “While we are being arrested, our sidewalk counselors have the opportunity to offer help to young women and hopefully persuade them to give life to their young children.”

Edl had been convicted under the FACE Act for blocking access to abortuaries in Tennessee and Michigan during the Biden administration. She was among the 23 pro-lifers pardoned by President Trump during the first week of his second term last year.

Edl further stressed that while pro-lifers like herself continue to be arrested and prosecuted for their efforts to save the unborn, they will continue to follow the Lord’s calling for them.

“Pro-lifers who continue to put their bodies between the abortionists and the innocent victims today will continue to be hammered by this unjust law until it is repealed,” she said. “And yet, despite knowing this, when the Lord asks you to do something, you just simply do it. No matter the cost. After all, He gave His life to save us.”

Finally, she urged the subcommittee to both repeal the FACE Act and end the murder of unborn children.

“I plead with our government to repeal the FACE Act because it is targeting people who want to do right,” Edl said. “After all, we have enough laws that if somebody does something wrong, we have the means to punish them.”

“I plead with our government to stop the killing and go back to the foundational principle that our forefathers built this country on, that all human life has equal value before God,” she added. “If we do not have an awakening of our national conscience, then we will exterminate our posterity.”

The Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Biden administration notoriously weaponized the FACE Act to prosecute numerous pro-life activists over the 46th president’s lone term.

Among the most egregious Biden prosecutions have been the so-called DC Nine, who in 2022 entered an abortion center in the nation’s capital and refused to leave. They received prison time despite several of them being elderly with medical issues. Like Edl, the DC Nine were among the 23 pro-lifers pardoned by Trump.

Another concerning case was that of Mark Houck, a Philadelphia pro-lifer whom the DOJ prosecuted under the FACE Act after he was arrested in a morning FBI raid for a physical altercation with a hostile abortion supporter that local authorities had already dismissed. Houck was ultimately acquitted in January 2023.

"NEW ORLEANS (LifeSiteNews) — A federal appeals court blocked the distribution of the abortion pill mifepristone by mail throughout the U.S. in a major ruling on Friday.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Louisiana in its challenge against the Biden FDA’s 2023 rule that allows mifepristone to be prescribed and dispensed without an in-person appointment.

The policy, which the Biden administration issued after the reversal of Roe v. Wade, has massively increased the use of the drug, undermining state pro-life laws, increasing abortion rates, and causing serious harm to women, according to data.

Abortionists and abortion drug networks have mailed tens of thousands of pills into pro-life states under the Biden rule, often enabled by “shield laws” in Democrat states that protect illegal abortion pill distributors from out-of-state law enforcement.

The FDA’s policy “now facilitates nearly 1,000 illegal abortions in Louisiana per month,” the Fifth Circuit said.

Around two-thirds of abortions in the U.S. are currently estimated to be committed using pills.

A three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit unanimously backed Louisiana’s lawsuit, temporarily halting the abortion pill rule while the case moves forward. Two of the judges were appointed by President Donald Trump and one by President George W. Bush.

The judges ruled that Louisiana is likely to succeed in the challenge, saying that the FDA policy “injures Louisiana by undermining its laws protecting unborn human life and also by causing it to spend Medicaid funds on emergency care for women harmed by mifepristone. Both injuries are irreparable.”

“Every abortion facilitated by FDA’s action cancels Louisiana’s ban on medical [i.e., chemical] abortions and undermines its policy that ‘every unborn child is human being from the moment of conception and is, therefore, a legal person,’” the ruling adds. “Once lost, that sovereign prerogative of protecting unborn life cannot be regained by legal remedy.”

The New Orleans-based court also said that the FDA’s removal of the in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone “likely lacked a basis in data and scientific literature.”

“The public interest is not served by perpetuating a medical practice whose safety the agency admits was inadequately studied. Indeed, the public interest demands the opposite,” the judges wrote.

The decision is “arguably the biggest rollback in access to abortion since the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling overturning Roe v. Wade,” leftist outlet Politico said.

It is likely to be quickly appealed to the Supreme Court.

The Fifth Circuit’s ruling overrides a lower court decision last month that temporarily left the FDA policy in place and gave the Trump administration more time to complete a supposed review of abortion pill data.

The administration has faced intense criticism from pro-lifers for declining so far to take action against mail-order abortion pills. FDA chief Marty Makary has said that the agency is waiting until after it concludes the review, but Republican lawmakers, including Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri, have slammed the FDA’s lack of urgency and questioned if the review is even taking place.

The Trump FDA and Department of Justice have also opposed Louisiana’s lawsuit in court, as well as other state challenges to the Biden rule, further outraging pro-lifers.

At the same time, the Trump administration has taken numerous pro-life actions, including cutting hundreds of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups, banning funding for research using aborted babies’ tissue, protecting the conscience rights of pro-life medical workers, and ending the Biden administration’s targeting of pro-life advocates under the FACE Act, among other things.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, which praised the Fifth Circuit’s decision, highlighted the severe harms that mail-order abortion pills pose to women. “Peer-reviewed research found three quarters of ER visits within 30 days after abortion drug use were coded as severe or critical,” the group said.

“Two separate, independent studies also found more than 1 in 10 women experience at least one severe adverse event. Complications can include hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and even death.”'
