"(LifeSiteNews) — Joining me on this episode of The John-Henry Westen Show is Carrie Prejean Boller, who recently made headlines for being kicked off President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission after denouncing Zionism. We discussed her fight against the removal, the many death threats she’s received since making this bold statement, the true Catholic position on “Christian Zionism,” and more.

I opened the episode by playing the viral clip of Boller denouncing Zionism and emphasizing that Catholics do not embrace this ideology during the Commission’s hearing on antisemitism earlier this month.

I asked her what led to the powerful statement at the hearing and ultimately her removal. Boller revealed that she had previously been asked to resign for speaking out against Israel’s genocide in Gaza in August.

“Leading up to this hearing … I was speaking out about Gaza. I was posting … what Pope Leo was saying about the suffering in Gaza, holding firm to my Catholic faith, being pro-life, from the womb to outside of the womb,” she said. “It just didn’t sit well with me that I was seeing (in Gaza) what I was seeing with my own two eyes, and I was being denied my religious freedom to speak about it.”

“The White House called me one day back in August, asked me for my resignation. And I said, ‘I’m not resigning,'” she added.

Boller recalled how she was told that Paula White (senior adviser to the White House faith office) and Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (chairman of the Commission), both of whom are notorious Christian Zionists, had wanted her to resign for simply upholding her Catholic beliefs.

“Fast forward to this hearing … I had already been asked to resign simply because I was speaking out about Gaza. They had told me that I wasn’t allowed to use social media, that I needed to stay off social media, that I wasn’t allowed to have my -they called it – ‘replacement theology’ beliefs while serving on this Commission,” she said.

“And Dan Patrick told me specifically that my job is to protect the president while serving on this Commission,” she added. “Well, I told the world basically on Monday that my allegiance is to Christ and to my Catholic faith and to my country.”

Later in the episode, I asked Boller about her recent X post declaring that she is not suicidal but very happy, and that as a Catholic she would never harm herself. She emphasized that she wrote that post after receiving numerous death threats the very first night she went home after the hearing.

“The first night that I got home (after the hearing), I had very disturbing phone calls all hours of the night just to scare me, and I reported it to PD,” she said. “I spoke with someone very high up in our government. And they said, ‘Carrie, you have to be really careful that your phone could be tapped, or they could try to have an accident happen to you. You’re dealing with a very, very sensitive topic that nobody has the guts to talk about right now.'”

“So I just wanted to put it out there that I’m not suicidal, I love my family, I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink alcohol. I’m being spiritually advised by many priests, so I just wanted to let the public know about that,” she added.

Boller stressed that while this is a scary time for her and her family because of all the threats, she would ultimately rather die than be forced to deny her Catholic faith.

“I would rather die than be forced to deny my faith. That’s the truth, and so my kids understand, they’re scared, and, I’ll be honest, it’s a scary time for us. It really is,” she said.

Boller continued:

There’s people that want to take me out simply because I’m a Catholic and I stand for what is right and true and good and beautiful. I stand for life, for all life. They want to call me names, they want to label me an anti-Semite or a bigot or a hateful person. It’s the exact opposite … I’m just standing for my Catholic faith, and I hope everybody else has the courage to do the same.

"(LifeSiteNews) — New statutes approved by the Vatican refer to Marian devotions as “expressions of the human heart” and recast them in terms of human political goals.

These goals include “dialogue between cultures,” “integral development of the human person in harmony with the environment,” and “universal brotherhood in solidarity, justice and world peace.”

The reordering of Marian devotion toward “progressive” political goals follows directly from the adoption of the Modernist principle that the origins of “worship, devotions, pilgrimages” lie in “the human heart.”

Modernism and the origins of religious devotion

The preamble of the new statutes of the Pontifical International Marian Academy states that the academy regards with favor “the expressions of the human heart … which manifest themselves through worship, devotions, pilgrimages and all artistic forms.”

This formulation encapsulates the Modernist doctrine identified and condemned by Pope St. Pius X in his 1911 encyclical letter Pascendi Domenici Gregis.

The foundation of Modernism is the conviction that the human intellect cannot assent with certainty to any proposition that is beyond the range of sensory phenomena.

This means the Modernist must reject the teaching of the Catholic Church that the Catholic religion was revealed to man by a transcendent God.

The alternative explanation put forward by the Modernists is that all religious doctrines originate in the “sentiments of the human heart,” that is, in man’s internal feelings and experiences.

The Modernist position was summarized by St. Pius X as follows:

Moreover, (religion) is due to a certain necessity or impulsion; but it has its origin, speaking more particularly of life, in a movement of the heart, which movement is called a sentiment.

Therefore, since God is the object of religion, we must conclude that faith, which is the basis and the foundation of all religion, consists in a sentiment which originates from a need of the divine. [1]

The pope continued:

It is thus that the religious sense, which through the agency of vital immanence emerges from the lurking-places of the subconsciousness, is the germ of all religion, and the explanation of everything that has been or ever will be in any religion. [2]

In other words, religious doctrines and practices are manifestations, or expressions, of the sentiments of the human heart.

This is the theological context in which the statement quoted from the Vatican statutes must be understood.

The ‘cult of man’

The Modernist doctrine, which holds that all religion originates in the human heart, thus turns the worship owed to God back toward man. All religion, from the Modernist perspective, ultimately serves man.

Hence in the very next sentence of the statutes, the Vatican directs Marian devotion toward human political ends. The Vatican “commits itself so that Marian study and piety may not be reduced to a sterile devotionalism but may give life to Marian places that promote the well-being and the integral development of the human person in harmony with the environment.”

For the Modernist, it is impossible for a human being to obtained true knowledge of a transcendent God, or to communicate directly with him in prayer. Therefore, authentic Catholic devotion is dismissed as “sterile devotionalism.” This follows logically from the Modernist philosophy underpinning the text. As God is unknowable and unreachable, all traditional devotions must be regarded as “sterile.” They cannot attain any end or produce any fruit.

Marian devotion can only be given a renewed purpose when directed toward the service of human beings. Therefore, the “renewed” Pontifical Academy is to serve “universal brotherhood in solidarity, justice and world peace.” “Mariology,” meanwhile, will be “a necessary presence of dialogue among cultures, capable of nourishing fraternity and peace.”

The approach adopted toward Marian devotion in the new statutes mirrors that adopted toward devotion to the Sacred Heart in Dilexit Nos.

In that text, Francis presented the Sacred Heart as a symbolic representation of the human heart, understood in the Modernist sense. In this way, he proposed man as an object for worship under a symbol emptied of its traditional meaning.

Two contradictory religions

The Catholic Church teaches that the Catholic religion originates with God and leads us to God. The Catholic religion ultimately brings man to perfect bliss in the eternal vision of God.

The Modernists teach that the Catholic religion originates within man and leads back to man. Modernist religion thus leads away from God and toward eternal death.

Catholicism and Modernism lead to precisely opposite ends, yet Modernism does so while retaining outward forms of Catholic doctrine and practice, which are emptied of their true meaning.

That is why, in 1907, Pope St. Pius X condemned the Modernists as “the most pernicious of all the adversaries of the Church” and issued a stark warning:

For as We have said, they put their designs for her ruin into operation not from without but from within; hence, the danger is present almost in the very veins and heart of the Church, whose injury is the more certain, the more intimate is their knowledge of her. Moreover, they lay the axe not to the branches and shoots, but to the very root, that is, to the faith and its deepest fires. And having struck at this root of immortality, they proceed to disseminate poison through the whole tree, so that there is no part of Catholic truth from which they hold their hand, none that they do not strive to corrupt. [3]

The Modernists present false Marian devotion, and a false devotion to Christ, in place of those established and cultivated by the Sacred Magisterium of the Catholic Church. In place of the worship that leads to eternal life, they substitute a sterile political program that will fail even to attain the genuine temporal wellbeing of man.

In 1916, Rev. Maciej Sieniatycki, a Polish priest and professor of dogmatic theology, foresaw the consequences of Catholics failing to heed the warnings of Pope St. Pius X.  He wrote:

A Church that came into being according to modernist principles – if indeed such principles could create a true religious community, which is highly doubtful – would no longer be the Church of Christ but a 20th-century creation, based on principles that are partly Protestant but primarily grounded in an ideology of agnosticism and positivism, with mystical fantasies. This new church might have both a pope and bishops, but they would be mere puppets; it might speak of dogmas, revelations, and supernatural religion, but these would be terms stripped of their ancient meaning, words without substance – how then could it truly be said that the old Church was not changed but only improved? Never; the previous Church would be destroyed, and upon its ruins would stand a 20th-century religious assembly that would begin its era of existence with the advent of the modernists. [4]

The Catholic Church, of course, cannot be destroyed. She was founded by Jesus Christ and endowed with the attributes of infallibility and indefectibility that she will retain until the Second Coming. But she can temporarily decline in size, or be obscured from sight, in the same way that the sun can briefly be eclipsed by the moon while remaining unchanged and never ceasing to send forth its light.

False Marian devotion, and idolatrous corruptions of the Sacred Heart, do not proceed from the Catholic Church but rather from adherents of the “new church” of the Modernists who have usurped power in the Vatican.

Let us choose to remain faithful to the Catholic Church, which alone offers true worship to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

Pope Leo Told Anglicans ‘We Are Already One.’ So What About Latin Mass Catholics?

 If any, or all "religions," are paths to God and Heaven, then why should we worry about being in the Catholic Church?????

"(LifeSiteNews) — Recently, Pope Leo XIV told Anglicans at an ecumenical prayer service at the Vatican that “we are already one.” This statement, if taken seriously, is not a mere courteous or diplomatic remark. It is a theological claim with concrete theological implications.

Words spoken by a pope imply principles about the nature of Christian unity, the Church, and the relationship between truth, worship, and communion. If ecclesial unity is affirmed with Anglicans – who are not in communion with the Catholic Church, who reject papal authority, and whose sacramental theology is, by Catholic standards, defective – then unity with Catholics in full communion with Rome, recognizing the Pope’s legitimate authority, professing the entirety of Catholic doctrine, and celebrating a rite canonized by centuries of uninterrupted use, surely must apply with even greater rigor.

Incoherence, inconsistency, or insincerity?

Doesn’t Leo XIV’s treatment of Tradition-minded Catholics constitute a decisive test case? These Catholics are not attached to some novelty, nor have they formed a parallel religion. They are simply Catholics living a liturgical expression that developed organically over centuries, promulgated by popes, and inseparably bound to Catholic doctrine through the principle of lex orandi, lex credendi. Hasn’t the Church herself long revered this rite as a precious safeguard of orthodoxy and doctrinal and liturgical unity itself?

How Leo XIV treats these Catholics reveals whether his call for unity is authentic and sincere, or rhetorical and counterfeit. One who truly believes that unity precedes uniformity defends the rights of Catholics to worship freely in a time-honored rite of the Church, without condescending tolerance, harassment, or disdain. If, on the contrary, such Catholics are despised, stigmatized, or unjustly portrayed as “divisive,” then does not the proclaimed “unity” become a farce, a deception, a scam? Does it not devolve into an empty slogan? Invoked when it costs nothing, but rejected when it demands respect for true unity.

Here is where Pope Leo XIV’s honesty stands or sinks. Those preaching a Vatican II–inspired “ecumenism,” under the banners of love, peace, and unity, are morally obligated to demonstrate their sincerity by practicing what they preach. They reveal their incoherence and insincerity when selectively practicing “ecumenism” and all the post–Vatican II rhetoric surrounding it. Those genuinely seeking unity will apply this principle first and foremost toward those within the Church. Toward those faithful who hold to Catholic Tradition and the Magisterium.

Authentic ecclesiology or cheap rhetoric?

Is claiming “unity” when embracing external differences while punishing internal fidelity true Catholic unity? Or is it merely cheap rhetoric used to disguise ideological manipulation? Does it not invert Catholic ecclesiology by treating those outside the Church as if they were in full communion, while excluding from full communion those who are fully within the Church? Will such an approach heal divisions? Seriously? Or will it only deepen wounds and ultimately destroy ecclesial unity by undermining trust, moral credibility, and mutual respect?

Is the issue really about unity, or is it rather about blind obedience to a new religion? Is Pope Leo seeking unity as a theological reality that edifies the Church, or a rhetorical ploy that hides a sinister, nefarious objective? How can a pope proclaiming unity with those outside the Church, excommunicate Catholics faithful to Tradition, who, precisely for that reason, are authentically Catholic?

Ultimately, isn’t the respect and pastoral solicitude – or lack thereof – Leo shows Catholics faithful to Tradition the very mirror that reveals his honesty and sincerity, or the scandalous absence of both? The ball is in Leo’s court. “By their fruits ye shall know them,” Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches (Saint Matthew 7:16). What better test is there?

"(LifeSiteNews) — Dissident Jesuit priest James Martin has praised Pope Leo XIV for including two female altar servers at a Mass he celebrated at a parish in Rome this past weekend.

“The use of female altar servers has proven controversial in some US dioceses, and among some bishops, but, apparently, not in the Diocese of Rome or for its bishop,” Martin said on social media Monday.

Martin’s remarks come amid what seems to be a rather grueling media tour promoting his new autobiography, Work in Progress. In recent days, Martin has appeared on Good Morning America and left-wing talk show host Stephen Colbert’s late-night program to boost book sales. He told Colbert that Leo is continuing Francis’ pro-LGBT agenda.

Martin’s claim that it is un-controversial to have female altar servers is contradicted by many arguments, including irrefutable theological principles as well as practical considerations that take into account the differences between boys and girls and the preparation of young boys for seminary.

The role of altar servers has historically been reserved for men and boys in the life of the Church, with several popes expressly forbidding women from serving at the altar. Fifth-century Pope Gelasius (492-496) condemned “the evil practice” of “women serving the priest at the celebration of Mass.” Pope Benedict XIV (1740-1758) reiterated this in his 1755 encyclical Allatae Sunt.

In a 2024 letter written by Sri Lankan Cardinal Albert Malcolm Ranjit, His Eminence declared that “no girls should be invited to serve at the altar” because that role “is one of the main sources of vocations to the priesthood in Sri Lanka and it will affect the number of candidates entering the seminaries, which risk we cannot take.”

Despite the Church’s longstanding teachings and tradition of denying women the role of altar boy, John Paul II permitted female altar servers in the 1990s. The Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts backed the move in a controversial decision.

Lectors, as well as acolytes, were historically minor orders reserved for men alone as they serve as stepping stones to the priesthood. Bishop Athanasius Schneider noted this in his 2023 book Credo when he said that ministers of the Church represent Christ, and because of this their ministries are to be carried out by ordained men or by their substitutes, male lectors or altar boys.

The cracking open of the door to female altar servers arguably took place under Paul VI when in his 1972 motu proprio Ministeria Quaedam he allowed the roles of lector and acolyte to be “lay ministries,” which eventually led to women stepping into the roles. Pope Francis went further in his 2021 motu proprio Spiritus Domini, which modified canon law to allow women to be officially installed as acolytes and lectors.

Bishop Schneider told LifeSite co-founder John-Henry Westen during a recent interview that allowing women to serve as lectors and altar servers introduces feminism into the “core” of the Roman liturgy, as it is a key step toward the ordination of female “priests.” His Excellency noted that this is exactly what happened in the Anglican Church, whose archbishop of Canterbury is now a woman who supports abortion and homosexual “marriage.”

Left-wing Catholic influencers who agree with Martin’s specious reasoning were quick to pounce on conservative critics of Leo. Former Democratic congressional candidate Chris Hale posted several images on his X account of female altar servers being included in liturgies offered by John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

Regardless, the theological principles and millennia-old teaching of the Church are irrefutable. Conservative and traditional Catholics on social media drew additional attention to how Leo’s liturgy was banal and uninspiring.

“Terrible music, ritual detached from tradition, and nonsensical things like female altar boys. Nobody finds this particularly profound,” former Disney child actor turned Catholic commentator Murray Rounds said in an X post.

A Spanish priest cleverly responded to Martin by noting that “the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass has proven controversial in some US dioceses, and among some bishops, but, apparently, not in the Diocese of Rome or for its bishop” — a reference to a Latin Mass offered by Cardinal Raymond Burke in St. Peter’s last year.
